Back on the Bike
Eddie ten Haaf is 42 years old. Originally from Amsterdam, he recently moved to Belgium. A few years ago, Eddie lost both of his lower legs. During his rehabilitation, he cycled on a stationary bike. However, due to the discomfort his prosthetics can cause after a while, he was unable to cycle outdoors—until he came across an Astonic e-bike ad on social media!

How We Sold Our Second Car

My Switch to Astonic
2.5 years ago, I said goodbye to my lease car and the €300 a month I was spending on it. In my search for an alternative, I stumbled upon Astonic. After a test ride on one of Roel and Anneke’s creations, I was immediately convinced: this was more than just an e-bike, it was an experience!

Finally Cycling Without Pain
After extensive research in the fatbike market, I ultimately landed on Astonic. My wife and I first rented an Astonic ride for a day and took a long tour through the area. The experience was very positive.

The Journey to the Perfect Biken
I was always searching for a bike that truly fit me—a bike that reflected my personality and height. After countless disappointments, I finally found what I was looking for at Astonic.
As a child, I already had a unique electric bike, but as I grew older, finding a new bike became a challenge. Standard bikes didn’t meet my expectations, and even modified old bikes didn’t deliver the results I wanted.

More Stability on the Bike with My Kids
On my previous mom bike, I never felt completely stable, especially when the kids started wobbling around. At traffic lights or when getting on and off the bike, I often felt like I wasn’t fully balanced.

Faster to Work with Astonic
I've been the proud owner of an Astonic Earth Extended fatbike for just over a year now. Through my work, I had the opportunity to purchase this bike and decided to add the family edition, which includes two child seats, footrests, and a windscreen. This way, it serves as a vehicle for both daily commutes to work and personal use. I live just outside Rotterdam and work in the city center. With a car, the commute can easily take 45 minutes on a bad day, but with my fatbike, I can make the trip in just 15 minutes.
As fuel prices and parking fees have skyrocketed over the past few years, we've even downsized from two cars to one. My kids, aged three and one, love riding on the bike, and with the Astonic Basket I added later, there's plenty of room for work gear and small groceries. All the seats are from Urban Iki, which I think provides some of the most user-friendly accessories for a bike. After dinner, the kids often want to go for another ride, and the seats can be attached to the bike in seconds.
The bike is the ultimate city bike. With its powerful motor, you can easily outpace other bikes and scooters at busy Rotterdam traffic lights, quickly escaping the crowds. My bike is fully insured, and I’ve added an alarm along with a solid lock, so I feel comfortable parking it anywhere in Rotterdam. When the kids are with their grandparents, we also take the bike into the city, with my wife riding on the back.
In short, the Astonic Earth Extended fatbike is versatile in every way, literally and figuratively.
