The Wave: Adventurous Functionality for Every Cyclist

At Astonic, we are proud to announce our latest innovation: the Wave, a multifunctional longtail e-bike that perfectly meets the needs of adventurous riders. This unique bike marks our entry into the longtail segment, with an approach that aligns with our existing models. Anneke and Roel van der Velde, the founders of Astonic, have worked hard to create a bike that is ideal for long rides and exciting outings.

The Wave offers extra space for luggage and children, making it an ideal choice for families and adventurers. While it is not a traditional longtail, it does allow for a longer rack to be added than on a normal bike. “We carefully tailor our bikes to the needs of our users, and the Wave is no exception,” says Roel. With the Wave, you can take everything you need for a successful day out.

Moreover, we choose to use as many European components as possible, with the frame even being produced in the Netherlands. This ensures high quality and durability, which is something we at Astonic value greatly.

The Wave is equipped with a powerful mid-motor and eight integrated gears from IntraDrive, an innovative manufacturer from the United Kingdom. “We opted for a motor with gears, which means easier maintenance and less wear and tear,” Roel explains. This makes the Wave not only user-friendly but also durable. The first prototypes will be available in October, with production starting in April 2025.

We use high-quality components from renowned brands such as Magura, Ergotec, Gates, and SuperNova. With an expected price starting from €8000, the Wave will become the new flagship of Astonic, and we are confident it will be worth every penny.

The introduction of the Wave perfectly aligns with the original plans of the Van der Velden family. “This was already envisioned in our business plan from 2019,” Anneke says. “Now that we have a strong base collection, it’s time to move forward with the Wave and further develop our high-quality product line.”
